After an attack last Friday in Stockholm, people all over the world mourned the four people who lost their lives when a terrorist driving a truck plowed into pedestrians in a crowded street. Markus Krantz of Sundbyberg, Sweden was grieving when he visited the area where the tragedy occurred — and noticed a living being hadn’t been recognized.

“Was on the high street tonight,” he writes on Facebook. “Saw that no one put a flower or lit a candle in the place where the poor dog was killed during Friday’s attack.”

“So we gave it our own little memorial. The necklace belonged to my own first dog, Ebba, who passed away this summer.”

“Thank you so much remembering poor Iggy. You did the best thing with this memorial. Touched me so much!” writes Elisabeth Rettenmoser

Rita Carina Janson added, “Sooo beautifully done you really are an animal lover just like me.”

Others went to the Iggy Memorial to pay their respects to him.

“We leave a little teddy bear to the lovely friend,” writes Maria Ohlsson

And Ohlsson wasn’t the only one to provide a gift.

“This is the scene out today,” Mary Kvarnström states.

After his initial visit, Krantz discovered Iggy was saved by Dogs Aid Animal Sanctuary in Dublin. The organization reached out to him, asking if he could go back and leave a message: “Iggy Run Free, from all ur friends in Dogs Aid in Dublin.”
