Through her nonprofit B Strong Disaster Relief, Bethenny Frankel is in Puerto Rico helping local residents get back on their feet again, but while there she is also helping some four-legged friends get a second chance, too. (get back on their feet, too)

The Real Housewives of New York star is in the region of Pinones providing aid, supplies and assistance to residents rebuilding their communities. While there, she came across an orphaned puppy curled up in the trunk of a tree.

“Please go to my instastory [Instagram story] and see the adorable steet puppy nestled in a tree. I am seeing who he is before I shove him in my cross body purse,” she tweeted on April 21.

Frankel discovered that the puppy (now named Tree) belonged to no one, but is one of the thousands of street dogs in Puerto Rico. (It has been widely documented that the island has an issue with stray dogs, in part, due to the fact many people do not spay or neuter their dogs.)

She decided to act and help the dog. She soon realized, though, he wasn’t the only one in need of some help.  She found his brother, now named Blanco.

And soon, the whole family of four was reunited.

“Momma, Poppa, Tree & Blanco we’re all rescued & reunited as a family! So happy! They are safe & finally getting the help they need,” she tweeted.

Frankel got help from The Sato Project, a Puerto Rico animal rescue organization. The organization is assisting in getting the family healthy – the mom and dad have heartworm, the mom has mange and the dogs have other issues, like fleas.

The reality star is heading back the US this week, but she is working with The Sato Project to ensure these dogs get nursed back to health and find a forever home.
