After Jenelle Evans of Teen Mom fame shared that her husband, David Eason, shot and killed their French Bulldog a petition was launched, urging animal abuse charges to be pursued, along with taking their other dog, a pit bull. To date, it has nearly 100,000 signatures.

This week, Evans posted on Instagram, letting the world know her French Bulldog, Nugget, had died.

“I’m crying everyday. I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I’m speechless. You were my side kick and knew the moment I felt bad and would cuddle with me,” she wrote. Everyday I wake up you’re not here, when I come home you’re not here, when I go to bed… you’re not here. You’re gone forever and there’s no coming back.”

There are a number of different stories about what exactly happened to Nugget — and they are all horrifying. But what can be agreed on is that Nugget snapped at Ensley, their 2-year-old daughter, after the little girl got in the dog’s face and the animal felt threatened. Eason then reportedly shot the dog and later posted a video and message. (Ensley’s skin was not punctured in the incident.)

“I dont give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face… whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I don’t (sic) put up with that s**t at all,” he wrote on social media.

“I’m all about protecting my family, it is my lifes mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me. You can hate me all you want but this isnt the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively. The only person that can judge weather or not a animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME.”

What he did was awful – and no one is having it. Besides Evans threatening divorce, there has been a flood of calls to the local animal control office (the couple has other animals too, including a pit bull), MTV said Eason will no longer be appearing on the show, dog brand Greenies pulled its advertising and nonprofit Animal Hope and Wellness launched a petition asking for the removal of the other dog.

“This dog needs to be taken from him, and animal cruelty charges filed for this brutal killing of Nugget,” the organization writes. “We need to send a message to others and those who think behavior like this is acceptable, that it is not.”

It’s been reported that Animal Control visited the house, but was unable to question Eason. There is apparently still an ongoing investigation.

This isn’t the first time Eason has become violent. There has been at least one domestic violence call, rants on social media about killing the president, an affinity for guns and him reportedly dragging a pig by his or her legs.

PETA is adding its voice, stating:

“David Eason has a long history of violent behavior and was caught on camera, just weeks ago, forcefully dragging a pig by his or her legs, so alarm bells should be sounding,” the organiation told Newsweek. “People who abuse animals typically don’t stop there. Domestic abusers commonly begin by threatening, torturing, or killing animals, and if reports that he shot Nugget are true, it’s time to worry about the safety of the humans and remaining animals at the house.”

We are obviously horrified by this story and hope officials take action against Eason, not only for harming animals but over concerns about the safety of Evans and the children. As PETA states, there is a connection between abuse of animals and abuse of people and with his history, there is cause for concern.

RIP Nugget.
