New Yorkers Get Excited for Maison de PawZ’s Fabulous ‘Howloween’ Benefit
Hosted at Longchamp in the Upper East Side on Oct. 29, the costumed event will be full of treats, prizes and maybe a few dog goblins.
Upon arrival, guests and their canine sidekicks will want to make a beeline to the dog treat bar to fill up on some homemade biscuits from maison de pawZ. The company prides itself in making small-batch treats using only high-quality ingredients with no preservatives, chemicals or by-products. Dogs at the party will be noshing on the classics: For Croque Monsieur, Spiced Apple Tart and Je T’Aime Veggies. And while every dog will enjoy the benefits of going au naturel in the treat department, maison de pawZ’s high-quality treats are especially great for pups with skin allergies and sensitive skin.
“My limited ingredient, all-natural dog biscuits allow dogs that suffer from these health problems to still enjoy a yummy and healthy treat,” says founder of the Paris-inspired treat company Mei-i Zien. “It’s not a cure, but all dogs should be rewarded with a treat knowing that it came from human-grade ingredients that their owners would eat themselves.”
And while dogs are chomping down on some snacks, you can enjoy some of your own. Literally. The company created nibbles inspired by its treats. The Croques Monsiuer will be transformed into a ham and cheese sandwich on a fluffy biscuit; the Spiced Apple Tart was reimagined into a Spiced Apple Madeleine and the Je T’Aime Veggies will turn into a heart-shaped beet filled with carrot, green pesto goat cheese and topped with micro kale from a local vendor at the NYC Greenmarket. Enjoy these fancy hors d’oeuvres with wine provided by a local retailer. Seriously, this is not your run-of-the-mill Halloween party.
Fashion photographer, Chantal Adair, creator of NYC Street File and super stylish The Dog Styler will also be hand snapping pictures of all the amazing dog costumes and mingling occuring at the event. Plus, Evermore Pet Food will be providing samples of its gently-cooked dog food.
While both you and your dog are being wined and dined (and photographed), head over to the silent auction to bid on some amazing items. Some of the prizes include a few months worth of Barkbox boxes; a Hilarious Hound photo session; a “Wet Dog” auction around Sophie Gamand’s newly released “Wet Dog Book” with DogTails shampoo and Little Bear’s doggy bathrobe and the fashionable puppy-mill survivor Ella Bean will have a curated selection of her favorite things. And if you must have that Longchamp purse, the company has agreed to donate 10 percent of the cost of the item to The Humane Society of New York. So, if you need to stock up on holiday gifts, do so now!
All proceeds will go towards the Humane Society of New York, an organization Zien is passionate about.
“Since I started the company last year, I have been huge fans of the Humane Society and the work they’ve done,” she says. “I met Becca [a volunteer] and her lovely team at various dog events around the city and just love the energy and passion they have.”
To cap the night off, your four-legged friend will receive a gift bag with a limited-edition maison de pawZ flavor: Crumbly Pumpkin Pie, a biscuit that “smells like it came straight out of your mom’s oven!”
