Celebrate Your Dog’s Special Day With This Yummy Birthday ‘Pupcakes’ Recipe

Every day we celebrate our dogs, but there is one special day of the year where they deserve a little extra attention: their birthday!

Spoil them with these yummy “pupcakes” that will have you drooling. Made with bananas, peanut butter and fruit, your dog will wish every day was their birthday. 

RECIPE: Birthday Pupcakes

Makes 12 mini cupcakes

Ingredients

1 cup oat flour
½ cup rice flour
1 ripe banana
¼ cup apple sauce
1 egg
1 tbsp coconut oil melted
1 tbsp water
Cooking spray

Frosting (optional):

¼ cup cream cheese, optional
¼ cup peanut butter

Decorations (optional):

12 Banana chips, 36 blueberries, whole oats, or sesame seeds for garnish

Supplies

Mini muffin tin
3 bowls
2 whisks
Spatula
Spoon
Knife
Plastic bag
Serving plate

Heat oven to 350 degrees, F.

Combine the oat flour add the rice flour.

Smash ripe banana with a fork in a bowl. Whisk in the egg, applesauce and oil.

Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture until the ingredients are moistened. A few lumps are okay. Spray a 12-cup mini-muffin tin with cooking spray. Spoon batter into the muffin tin, dividing evenly amongst the cups.

Bake until fragrant, and firm to the touch, about 20 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes, and using an offset spatula remove from the muffin tin and let cool.

To make the frosting, whisk or beat together the peanut butter and cream cheese with 1 tablespoon water until fluffy and transfer to a pastry bag fitted with a star tip. Frost the cupcakes. Decorate with a banana chip, blueberries, oats or sesame seeds.
