For many, the ’80s was an iconic time. Big hair, spandex, shoulder pads and bleached denim.

And for those dog lovers that want to relive that time all over again, now is your chance. This year’s New York Pet Fashion Show, which coincides with fashion week, will be a tribute to the ’80s.

Rescue dogs, cats and other animals will be strutting their stuff down the runway with music from the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper. The pups that will be featured are from the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, an umbrella group of 150 shelters and rescue organizations. Part of the proceeds will go to supporting this group.

The show will have a separate runway show for designers, where they will be tasked with dressing the dogs — but this year there is a catch. None of the animals will be wearing fabric, meaning the outfitters must create couture out of everyday items. (Think: paper, nylon, tin foil.)

The doors open at 6 pm and will include the rescued runway show, awards ceremonies, the designer couture ’80s show and a costume contest. ‘Rescued in the 80s’ is expected to be done by 10 pm.  It will be held at Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan.

The show follows last year’s “Rescue Revolution,” which celebrated the culture of the 60s and 70s.

The event is in its 12th year and run by Chairman Gregg Oehler and Ada Nieves, co-chair and creative director. The cost of a ticket is $50 and increases to $60 at the door.
