Fido is so last century, well, at least according to Rover.com. The pet-sitter and dog-walker network just revealed its annual top dog name report and 2017 saw some interesting trends. From TV shows to celebrities and girl power, owners were turning to pop culture when it came to naming their dog.
However, when it came to the most popular names, there were a few monikers that continued to remain in the top 10. For girl dogs, Bella was the top name, followed by Lucy and Daisy. For boy dog names, Max came in first, followed by Charlie and Cooper.
Powerful women names had a strong presence in 2017. Wonder Woman-themed names were up 45 percent, while Atwood after The Handmaid’s Tale author, Margaret Atwood, was up 200 percent.
Stranger Things-inspired names were also popular, with Barb up 182 percent and Eleven up 166 percent.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry even made an appearance. The name Taylor beat out Katy by 65 percent, yet Perry was much more popular than Swift, with 169 percent more dogs named it.
