People who say cats have nine lives haven’t met a dog named Skye.
The golden retriever was rescued from a sinkhole in Pennsylvania after spending two days in it.
The dog got in the predicament after her owners, Ron and Megan Holmes, were walking the pup during a snowstorm on Monday evening. They decided to let Skye off leash and that is when she went missing.
“We understand we were in the wrong to let her off leash,” Ron told Centre Daily Times. “She’s so good about staying close, and all of a sudden she was gone.”

Frantic, the couple began searching for Skye but to no avail. It wasn’t until Wednesday morning when they heard her barking from the bottom of a 15-foot sinkhole.
“Oh, it’s the most fantastic feeling hearing her,” Ron told the outlet. “I was so sick last night thinking she was gone. I thought she would have drowned if she was somewhere down there or suffered hypothermia.”
Soon, firefighters from Alpha Fire Company came to the couple’s rescue and helped pull Skye out of the hole. The crew had to first widen the whole, and then a firefighter descended down the hole, where he put a harness on the dog and helped pull her out.
Despite spending a few nights in the hole, Skype sustained no injuries. “She’s doing fine, and the vet said she’s in good shape,” Ron said.
