One of the hardest things about having a dog is that you tend to be the one that needs to say goodbye to them first. Their lifespan just doesn’t equate to ours.
But for one owner, it was his dog that needed to say goodbye to him.
Last month Ryan Jessen, 33, suffered from a brain hemorrhage. He was rushed to the hospital where it was determined he could not be saved.
His family, thankfully, had the opportunity to say their goodbyes but there was someone important missing: his beloved dog Mollie. Fortunately, the hospital let the dog also have her time with Jessen.

“The hospital did the sweetest thing for us and allowed us to bring my brother’s dog in to ‘say goodbye’ so she’d know why her human never came home,” Jessen’s sister Michelle wrote on a Facebook post with the video. “If you knew my brother, he really loved his sweet dog.”
During the heartbreaking moment, you can see the dog repeatedly sniffing Jessen’s face on the bed, curious of his owner’s current state.
Since the video was posted on Dec. 1, it has received more than 11 million views and shared nearly 100,000 times.
