After a pit bull was left in her car, an Uber driver chose to keep her, rather then send the dog to the shelter.
Arizona driver Brandi picked up a passenger, along with his dog, last week in Phoenix. She then drove them to the east Valley, about 30 minutes away, to an apartment complex. The assumed owner quickly jumped out of the car. After Brandi realized the dog was still in her Toyota Prius she went searching for the owner, but to no avail. And the number linked to the customer’s Uber account was disconnected.
“Maybe rather than advertising on Craigslist, he was trying to find if [the dog] found a connection with somebody,” Brandi, who asked that only her first name be used, told ABC 15.
“I guess with me, he thought [the dog] found it.”
Uber suggested she surrender the dog to a shelter, but Brandi knew better. Pit bulls are a breed that often gets euthanized, and the woman was concerned that would happen to the 9-month-old dog, now named Honey.
So, she decided to keep her, telling the outlet, “She’s got a good home now.She’s not going anywhere.”
