Summer may be winding down but that doesn’t mean outdoor dog fun is coming to an end.
On Sunday, Sept. 18, animal rescue organization Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue is throwing its annual Fall Fest, an event celebrating the dogs in our lives, while raising awareness for those needing homes.
Kicking off at noon, the festival will take over the whole block of President Street between 3rd Ave and Nevins in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The pup-friendly event will include booths from vendors offering local dog gear like beds, bow ties and collars.

There will also be trainers on hand from Canine Cohen Dog Training and Behavior Modification and Urban K9 for those who may need a little help on their manners, along with “ask the vet.”
For pups looking to blow off some steam, Dogboy NYC will have an agility course dogs can race through. When they are wiped out from all the activity, Shake Shack will be serving up “poochinis” or dog-friendly ice cream with biscuits, for pups to inhale.

But Fall Fest isn’t all about our four-legged friends. The street fair will have food trucks, along with beer being served at Canal Bar on the corner. (For the kiddos there will be face-painting and arts and crafts.)

To help support Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue, there will be a raffle, with prizes including a Dyson animal vacuum (we could all use one of those), two tickets to the Village Voice Brooklyn Pour Craft Beer Fest, dog-training sessions and more.
Plus, there will be dogs available for adoption — all of which will openly give you lots of smooches.
Proceeds from items sold at the festival and donations will go to help Badass in the coming year continue its mission.
“We are building methodically to be able to become a sustainable organization and solidify our medical, training and foster programs, among others,” says Deb Klein of Badass. “This will enable us to save more dogs per year and to ensure a successful future — to make sure they are never homeless again.”
Fall Fest is free but Badass is pre-selling bundles of tickets for beer, raffle tickets and merchandise. You can find more information here. The event is from 12-5 and will be rain or shine. See you there!
