Get ready for dogs of all sizes to be making major waves this upcoming weekend.

The seventh annual Unleashed By Petco Surf City Surf Dog competition is beginning tomorrow through Sunday at Huntington Beach, Calif. The weekend-long event will feature a number of activities for you and your pup.

Kicking off the festivities will be the opening ceremonies on Friday, including a “Yappy Hour” with dog-themed cocktails, a red carpet with “puparazzi,” the PAWabunga costume contest and raffles. The cost is $10 if people pre-register online, or $12 at the door, and includes admission, a raffle tickets and a doggie goodie bag. Proceeds will go to a nonprofit charity partner, which includes animal-welfare organizations Barks of Love and Southern California Bulldog Rescue.

On Saturday, the International Surf Dog Walk of Fame (yes, this really does exist) will be held at the International Surfing Museum from 6 to 9 pm. Three dogs — Wahine Female Surf Dog, Kahuna Male Surf Dog and the Local Hero Dog — will be inducted into the walk of fame and will have their names and paw prints preserved on their own stone. Guests can also view the history of dog surfing at the museum, which entails photos, videos, awards and other artifacts from previous dog surfing competitions. There will be hor d’ouvres, a no-host donation bar and live music. Ticket prices are $20 in advance, $30 at the door.

The competition occurs from 1:30 to 2:15 pm, followed by prizes, which will be awarded to the top dog in each category. The event will end with closing ceremonies and award presentations.

“My favorite part of the Surf City Competition is watching the best of the best and spending a great day with my surf dog friends,” says John Murphy, whose senior dog Haole will be one of the competitors.
