Besides getting your yoga on, there will be a bake sale and a number of raffle prizes including free yoga classes, jewelry, art, clothing and more. Each raffle ticket is $1 and all proceeds will be donated to the Stand Up For Pits Foundation.

The duo behind Stretch Strengthen And Stand Up For Pits, sisters Brijana and Kelsey Prooker, decided to put on the event to raise awareness about “pit-bull” type dogs (there is actually no breed called a pit bull) and help educate the public about the goodness of these animals. They adopted a pit bull named Ivy, and soon realized her bubbly personality wasn’t jiving with everyone.

“When we adopted Ivy, people would cross the street when they saw her, parents would shield their children, and hateful words and obscenities would be yelled at us from across the street and come out of nowhere,” says Brijana. “We’d be walking and laughing, Ivy would be wiggling and smiling, and suddenly we’d be accosted by hate.”

Kelsey added that having Stand Up for Pits, founded by Rebecca Corry, was the perfect fit. “Rebecca was sort of our personal megaphone, amplifying our own voices that we’ve used on a daily basis to dispel ugly myths and spread pit bull love.”
