The last dog who got adopted from a shelter got a very special farewell.

The Hawaiian Humane Society in Honolulu had a goal of clearing its shelters to end 2016 on a good note. And last Thursday they did just that, with the final dog getting quite the send off.

In a video posted on its Facebook page, a pup named Beauty is seen walking with her new owner Jan, as volunteers line up and clap while the family walks out of the shelter. People pet, kiss and cheer as Beauty passes, while the dog is taking it all in.

The Hawaiian Humane Society launched the campaign on Wednesday and incentived the public to rescue by waiving the adoption fees for the four-day program. And it worked, as the shelter was cleared on Thursday, with Suzy Tam, the communications coordinator for the shelter, telling The Huffington Post that it was the first time the shelter has cleared out all animals available for adoption.

Because the shelter is the only one on the island that has an open-door policy, meaning they don’t turn away any dog, the Hawaiian Humane Society didn’t stay empty for long. According to The Huffington Post, the organization can take in up to 65 animals a day. And they are preparing to bring in 270 dogs rescued from Friends for Life, a nearby shelter where animals reportedly lived in an abusive, inhumane environment.
