Dog spas have come a long way than just offering a bath and blow out. Some offer blueberry facials, faux hawks, color treatments and even reiki sessions. But a dog spa in Japan seems to take the cake with a far-out service for our pups: ridding the body of evil spirits.

The D+Kirishima spa has a package called the Pet Dog Exorcism Plan and is recommended for senior dogs who are in their “unlucky health years.”

“Seven-year-old, 10-year-old, and 13-year-old dogs need to be careful of their health, as it’s easier in those years for them to gets diseases of aging,” the spa’s website roughly states when translated.

Occurring near the spiritual Kirishima Shrine, the ceremony takes place at the hotel’s Shingariyu shrine. The service involves a senior priest conducing a ceremonial blessing at the shrine that supposedly gets rid of bad spirits in the dog. Afterwards, the priest prays for the animal’s health.  It takes approximately 30 minutes and occurs in the morning.

Besides the exorcism, The D+Kirishima spa has other cutting-edge services including multi-course meals for dogs (that look better than what most of us eat), spa baths  with your dog, (you can choose to bath with your pup in the same bath), private dog pool and dog shaved ice.
