With the dog days of summer upon us, many people are enjoying the delicious treat of ice cream to stay cool. And for one day only, pups are also getting in on the fun — and for free!

PetSmart is celebrating National Ice Cream Month by offering dog-friendly ice cream with a side biscuit at all PetHotel locations this Sunday, which happens to be National Ice Cream Day.

The special treat, called Treat Time, is usually provided to dogs as an add-on service when they stay at their hotel – overnight or for just a few hours.

“The PetSmart PetsHotel add-on services are designed to provide extra enjoyment to your pet’s stay, and there’s no better way for your pet to cool down on a warm summer day than with our pet-safe ice cream,” Cory Zignego, director, PetSmart, PetsHotel Services said in a statement. “We’re excited to invite all pet parents to stop in with their fur kids for a sample on National Ice Cream Day this year.”

The nation-wide event occurs between noon and 4 p.m. local time and dogs will be given one four-ounce treat. To find a participating location, head over to PetSmart by clicking here.
