A dog-friendly parade is hitting New York City this Sunday to honor the history of animal protection.

Called the Paws Parade, the affair will celebrate several local organizations and people making an impact in the animal welfare community. The ASPCA, Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, Animal Care Centers of NYC, along with veterinarians will be hand. There will also be giveaways. Actress, singer and animal-lover Bernadette Peters will serve as the Grand Marshal.

Marnie the Dog, Pip (the pup rescued after being thrown from a car in Staten Island) and other lovable animals will be making an appearance.

This event is in conjunction with the ASPCA’s 150th anniversary. The organization will be kicking off its 150 day initiative on the day of the parade. Called the 150 Days of Rescue, the nonprofit has a goal of reaching 150,000 actions for animals in 150 days.

The parade goes from 11 am to noon. It begins at Madison Square Park on 26th and 5th and will make its way down Broadway to Union Square. Check out the Mayor’s Alliance or ASPCA website for more information.
