Dog Faithfully Waits Weeks for His Murdered Owner Who Will Never Return

A German shepherd has been patiently waiting for weeks for his Houston owner to come home not realizing he was killed while working at a convenience store.

Neighbors have observed the dog waiting at the apartment complex’s gate where he, along with 54-year-old Hatem Abuharbid, called home.

“You could just tell that he was a lost dog,” neighbor Cassandra Eubanks told ABC 13 in Houston. “He would follow the cars and when he would realize that it was not his owner’s car, he would just stand there and look helpless.”

Abuharbid was killed in an armed robbery at Kay-B convenience store. He was shot in the leg, hitting an artery. He later dies in the hospital. But

Kay-B convenience store where he worked in Houston, police said in a press release. The bullet pierced an artery in his leg and Abuharbid later died at the hospital.

But not being able to communicate that to the dog has left the German shepherd confused and shaken.

Residents of the apartment complex have tried to approach the dog and left food and water for him but were unable to get close to him.

But after weeks of no luck, a person was finally able to get through to him.

Maranda Perez saw a social media post asking for help. She, along with her dog, tried to get the German shepherd to trust her. Finally, after he ran up three flights of stairs, she was finally able to get a leash on him.

“He was still very shaken up whenever I touched him,” she told the outlet.

Perez will foster the dog for a week and then Abuharbid’s brother plans on adopting him.
