The owner of two dogs was devastated after a fire swept through his garage on Saturday, engulfing the area where his dogs were at the time.
“I wanted to get my dogs out, but they wouldn’t let me go in there,” Adel Conley told Wave 3 News. “I love my dogs.”
The fire started in a neighbor’s garage of the Kentucky neighborhood and spread to Conley’s garage, with smoke seen everywhere in the neighborhood.
Firefighters were able to rescue one dog, but when they went in for the second dog, the fire was just too big.
“With the amount of fire we had and the amount you can see, just the amount of materials in that garage,” Lt. Col Jim Fredrick told the outlet. “It’s not really easily accessible for us.”
Officials told Conley the other dog died.
Hours after the fire struck, Wave 3 News was reporting on the incident when firefighters heard barking from the garage. Miraculously, Conley’s other dog was alive.
The pair were able to ring in 2017 together.
