After a dog bonds with someone in a shelter, staff decides to create a Craigslist-like post to help them reconnect.
A dog named Guinness was at Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Georgetown, Texas when a blonde woman came in looking to possibly adopt a dog.
“She had him out, they took a walk around, spent time together,” Misty Valenta, community programs coordinator at the shelter, told Fox 7.

She spent time with Guinness but had to come home and think about it. Providing staff her contact information, she left.
The next day Guinness was gone. “Another family came forward very interested in Guinness and they took him on Friday and she came back for Guinness on Saturday,” Valenta told the outlet.
The happy ending didn’t last long. Guinness was returned to the shelter after a family member was allergic to him.
They decided to reach out to the blonde woman, but when a staff member went to contact her she couldn’t her information. It was lost.

Thinking outside the box, Valenta decided to put a Craigslist “Missed Connection” style note on Facebook.
MISSED CONNECTION: We were at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter last Wednesday or Thursday. You were a lovely blonde woman who was thinking of adopting. I, a loving Shepherd mix. We went for a lovely walk. You needed to think about it. (Something I really respect.) When you came for me on Saturday, I was not at the shelter. The post-it you wrote your number on got lost…so now I’m reaching out. Dear nice blonde lady – if you still want to adopt me – I’m here. Love, Guinness.
While the ad didn’t initially catch the eye of the woman, it did help Guinness find his forever home, complete with a dog friend.
After the adoption, the blond woman, now known as Sarah Layne from Austin, did see the post – and couldn’t be more excited for Guinness.
“Hi everyone, I’m the ‘blonde lady,’” Layne wrote on the shelter’s Facebook page. “I did see the story, but not in time!!! I’m heartbroken I didn’t see it in time but so happy he found His forever home.”
