With the weather getting warmer, an organization wants us to “spring” into action to help dogs and other animals in need.

This coming weekend, Celebrity Catwalk, a New York City-based organization that produces events for animals rescues, is having a three-day “Paws in the City” extravaganza to help raise money for three animals-welfare organizations: Yorkie911 Rescue, Pugs For Pinky and Zani’s Furry Friends.

The festivities kick off on May 20 when guests, along with their dogs, will celebrate a “Pink Paws For A Cause Party,” a cancer-awareness event for Pugs for Pinky. The dress code is pink and guests will get to enjoy cocktails and appetizers, while dogs will get to snack on dog treats from a number of companies. Dr. Michelle Bourjaily from West Chelsea Veterinary will also be on hand to answer any cancer-related or general health questions.

There will also be a pink contest where people, along with their dogs (or just dogs) will provide their best interpretation of the word “pink” (no props). The winner will snag a $1,000 gift certificate to Posh Puppy Boutique.

On May 21, dog lovers will literally roll out of bed to join others for Celebrity Catwalk’s Paws and PJs event. While enjoying food and fun – agility tunnels, face-painting, caricatures and more – they will be helping out to raise money for Zani’s Furry Friends. There will also be two contests: Best PJs and a cruise-wear competition. This is open to just dogs or dogs and their humans (no props).

On Sunday May 22, the benefit concludes with people attending a fashion show to raise money for Yorkie911 Rescue. Dogs will be strutting their stuff down a catwalk wearing attire from American, Italian, Guatemalan and Canadian designers. There will be 130 designs for guests to ooh and aah over.

The event will also have tasty treats for humans and their pups, along with a raffle including prizes like designer bags and luxury dog products.

This is the third year Celebrity Catwalk has put on the event to help curb the euthanasia rate in the U.S. for animals – currently approximately 6 to 8 million. The organization highlights specific nonprofit charities proactively making a dent in this statistic.

To attend all three events the ticket price is $65. If you are looking to just attend one event, the cost is $50 per event. For those wanting to enter a contest, it is $20 per admission.

The Friday and Saturday events will held at 152 2nd Ave (between 9th and 10th Street). The Sunday event will be at Copacabana located at 268 West 47th Street (between 7th and 8th Ave.)
