Carrie Fisher’s Dog Says Goodbye to His ‘Mommy’

Carrie Fisher’s death was felt by thousands, including her beloved dog Gary. The French bulldog, famous in his own right with 86,000 followers on Instagram and 50,000 on Twitter, took to social media to say goodbye to his ‘mommy.’

“Saddest tweets to tweet,” the post read. “Mommy is gone. I love you.”

The French bulldog with the side tongue had been a constant companion of the Star Wars actress. He walked the red carpet with her, sat in on interviews and was often photographed by her side at celebrity events, including the White House correspondent’s dinner.

Fisher got Gary about four years ago from a “very tragic pet store” in New York City, she told NPR.  In a 2013 Herald-Tribune article, Fisher described him as her “heart,” adding, “Gary is very devoted to me and that calms me down.”

Fisher passed away at the age of 60 from a heart attack she suffered on an airplane. After she was rushed to the hospital, Gary was hopeful she would return home.

Fisher is survived by her daughter Billie Lourd, brother Todd and her famous mother Debbie Reynolds. While Lourd will welcome Gary into her home, the dog will always know how much Fisher loved him.
