The Chinese calendar, based on the lunar phases, includes the cycle of 12 signs along the path of the sun. Each new year is marked by the characteristics of one of the 12 zodiac animals, and it is believed that a person born in that year has characteristics of that animal.

This year, the Chinese New Year officially began on February 16, 2018. It is the Year of the Dog. (Previous years that were Year of the Dog are 2006, 1994, 1982 and 1970.)

So, what does that mean for people who were born during the Year of the Dog?

We all know that dogs are devoted, honest, compatible and kind. They have a strong sense of loyalty and sincerity, and they will do anything for the people they love.

Dogs are idealists; they want to make the world a better place. Dogs tend to offer kind words and advice and they’re good listeners. They are concerned with others’ happiness and not seekers of wealth or personal success. They do best with a quiet life and a good family, so they can forget about the evil in the world.

They become very involved in other people’s lives and can appear nosy, but they’re always ready to offer a shoulder to cry on. Dogs have large hearts, and they can sometimes have too much empathy.

They have a strong sense of justice and morality. Dogs can also be temperamental, and when this happens, they need to go off on their own to calm their minds.

Because dogs are happy all the time, their health tends to be good. They love to play sports, and this exercise helps them stay healthy. Dogs are also social animals, and they work hard; they should be careful to get enough rest.

If you’re a dog, the crystal ball predicts your best career choices: any caring profession such as counselling, social work, charity work, medicine and the law. Dogs can also be artistic and do well in areas of research, science, and arts including interior design.

For dogs, 2018 will be a challenging year. It will be harder to get promotions at work, and you should be careful with investments. This isn’t a good year to find a partner. Be careful of injuries to arms and legs. Generally, be watchful in all aspects of your life.

To calm yourself down and bring good luck, go for a long walk around a lake or through a park. And take your dog, of course. He’s your best friend.
