Blue Buffalo Recall

Blue Buffalo has voluntarily recalled its Cub Size Wilderness Wild Chew bones after tests revealed Salmonella existed in a particular lot.

The contaminated bones were sold at PetSmart stores in nine states: California, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington starting on Nov. 19, 2015, the FDA states.

The recalled product comes individually wrapped with the UPC number 840243110087 and the expiration date of Nov 4. 2017 (printed as exp 110417) on it. If consumers have purchased this recalled product they need to either get rid of it or bring it back to the place of purchase for a refund.

The recall occurred after a routine test at the manufacturing site revealed the presence of Salmonella in the bones (no other products are affected). To date, there have been no pet or consumer illnesses reported.

Signs of Salmonella in humans include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps and fever. More serious symptoms include arthritis, muscle pain and urinary tract infection.

Pets that have been affected by Salmonella, may be tired, have diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some animals will have a decreased appetite, fever and stomach pain.
