After a golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer, an owner set out to ensure his last days would be memorable with an incredible bucket list.
When Tim Griffin of Pennsylvania took his dog, Mister Molson, in to the vet to get a growth removed from his nose, he thought everything was going to be okay. But when the vet called and said, “I have bad news; it’s cancer,” he was heartbroken.
Having been a loyal friend for 12 years, Griffin decided he, along with his two children, Chloe, 10, and Elliot 8, were going to give him more great memories before they had to say goodbye.
With the vet saying Molson probably had three months to live (that was four months ago), Griffin decided to create a bucket list and blog about the adventures and lessons learned throughout the process, Molson has had quite the experiences.

The town has rallied behind the list, with local union International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers electing him honorary president, so the pup could check off “become president” off his list.
“His first order of business was to continue the tradition of serving after meeting refreshments and urged members to drop more of them on the floor,” Griffin wrote about the experience. “His second order of business was to thank all of the members that have given him pizza crust and donuts at the various training and volunteer events over the years.”
Molson has also ridden in a police car, been on a fire truck, be a news anchor for the day and march in a parade.
“Molson loves people and going places,” Griffin tells This Dog’s Life about his bucket-list adventures. “He never minds wearing a silly outfit and loves all the extra attention he is getting.”
Others chipped in for the bucket list, with Molson getting to fly in a helicopter, ride in a Harley sidecar and snag a girlfriend.

And his favorite: a ride with the windows down.
“Judging by the look on his face, I’d say the convertible ride might have been his favorite,” says Griffin. “He just looked so happy and probably felt like he was flying. ”
Currently, Molson has checked 34 things off his list (and all the details of each adventure can be found on Griffin’s blog) and has six left, including visit Central Park and plant a tree.

“I hope that people reading his story give their pets a little more attention, a little longer walk, or an extra can of wet food or a steak once in awhile,” Griffin says. “Our pets don’t live long enough and time passes more quickly for them so every moment matters.”
