Adoptapalooza Is Making Its Way to Brooklyn

For the second time this summer, the Mayor’s Alliance is hosting its Adoptapalooza. But instead of having it in Manhattan, the group is making it more accessible to many Brooklynites by holding it in Prospect Park. This is the first time, the event has been held in Brooklyn.

Similar to the mega-adoption event that occurred in May at Union Square, this one, in partnership with The Petfinder Foundation, will feature approximately 150 dogs, cats and other small animals that are looking for their forever home. Some of the groups that will be in attendance include Animal Care Centers of NYC, ASPCA, Waggy Tail Rescue, Rebound Hounds Res-Q and Sean Casey Animal Rescue.

There will also be free personalized pet tag giveaways, photo opportunities, dog licensing, pet tips to help prepare people for emergencies — and we are guessing a lot of water. (If you are bringing your dog there, please keep them hydrated and not in the sun for too long.)

Purina will also be there handing out pet food samples of its ONE dog food.

“By visiting us at Adoptapalooza, owners can learn more about how Purina ONE supports shelters as well as register for the Purina ONE 28 Day Challenge,”Tracey Johnson, Purina’s senior brand manager, says. “For each person who signs up for the challenge during the month of August, Purina ONE will donate $10 to the Petfinder Foundation (up to $13,800) to help more shelter dogs find their forever homes.”

If you are looking for a companion pet, head over to Prospect Park at the Bartel-Pritchard Square (15th Street and Prospect Park West) from 11 am to 5 pm.
