A Pup No One Wanted Gets Adopted by George Clooney’s Family on Christmas

George Clooney strikes again, adopting yet another rescue dog. But instead of keeping this pup for his own brood, the dog was given to his parents for a Christmas present. (The rescue wanted to respect the family’s privacy during the holidays, so waited to share the news.)

Named Nate, the dog, estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old, had been waiting patiently for his new, glamorous home. The terrier mix was rescued nine months ago by Fairfield, Ohio-based organization LuvFurMutts from a hoarding case. The pup was one of 22 dogs rescued from the dire situation, with Luv Fur Mutts agreeing to take in 11. Nate was born with birth defects, including a barrel chest and a leg that swayed, and was emaciated.

While a number of potential adopters expressed interest in Nate, no one stepped up.

“When we took Nate to adoption events, people would stare and kids would point. Several people applied to adopt him but then said no when they met him,” the organization wrote on Facebook. “The lowest point came when an adopter cried when she met him and said she would be depressed the rest of her life if she had to look at him every day.”

Fortunately for Nate, one special couple was watching out for him. After following his story on Facebook and seeing a video of him, Clooney’s assistant, Angel, reached out to LuvFurMutts, expressing interest in Nate for his parents Nick and Nina. (They had recently lost their dog.)

After his mom read about Nate’s story and watched the YouTube video (over and over again), she was sold. Her husband was, too. “I guess it sounds like he gets around just as good as we do anymore,” Nick reportedly said.

“They could have any dog in the world but they chose to adopt a dog who was crippled and could have been with LuvFurMutts for life,” the organization posted.

The nonprofit knocked on the family’s door Christmas Eve to deliver Nate to them. When Nina opened the door and was handed her new addition, tears flowed down her face. And LuvFurMutts couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

“From fighting to get food in his belly each day to being the only fur baby of two of the most wonderful people in Augusta, KY. It’s truly a fairytale ending for Prince Nate… or should we say… a perfect Hollywood movie ending!”

This was the second time in recent times that Clooney has adopted a rescued dog. Back in October, it was reported that the couple welcomed a basset hound named Millie into their family.
