When it comes to pets, they are truly part of our family. So much so, that, according to a report, even if we found our ideal home, but it wasn’t right for our four-legged friend, we would pass on it.
Indeed, 75 percent of pet owners would say “no thank you” to their perfect home if it wasn’t right for their animals, according to a new survey from Realtor.com.

“It’s heartwarming to find that people will put their pets’ needs first, even when it comes to one of the biggest financial decisions they will ever make,” Nate Johnson, chief marketing officer for Realtor.com, said in a statement. “This survey shows that we really do consider pets part of the family — and that their needs are a critical part of finding the perfect home.”

Younger buyers were even more apt to forgo their dream home if it wasn’t suited for their pet than older buyers, with 79 percent of 18 – 34-year-olds and 77 percent of 35 – 54-year-olds saying they would pass on the house, compared to 64 percent for buyers 55 and older. When it came to those buyers who have children and those who don’t, there was a pretty major difference on if they took their pets’ needs into consideration when purchasing a home (81 percent versus 57 percent for those without children).
The findings come after the company surveyed more than 1,000 people who bought a home in 2018. Of those surveyed, 80 percent owned a pet, with the most popular being the dog (64 percent).
