A male dog at a German zoo is providing lots of cuddles and snuggles to two cubs rejected by their mother.
Named Leon, the dog has been a sort of surrogate mother to two Bengal tiger cub twins ever since their mother abandoned them shortly after birth. The 1-month old babies, named Peach and Pearl, have been living with the zookeeper Jeannette Wurm and her dog Leon in the keeper’s home, located on the Safaripark Stukenbrock premise.
Leon has been entertaining the cubs, along with teaching them manners and behavioral lessons, all important to the cubs’ development.
“The hope [is] that these two white tiger babies will become two queens of the jungle,” a message on the site translated says. “Now the little tigers are lovingly hand-fed, cuddled and massaged.”
Leon is not only responsible for these cubs but his other job includes taking care of the zoo’s “small predators.”
Here is the adorable video of Leon, Peach and Pearl bonding.
