‘Tuna Melts My Heart ‘ Is a Scene Stealer in Volkswagen Commercial

Share
A dog is sitting in the back seat of a car, and it's absolutely adorable.

For its latest ad, Volkswagen has relied on a rescued dog named Tuna, also known as “Tuna Melts My Heart,” to take the blame for an awful smell.

In the commercial, “Three Old Wives Smelt It,” older women are seen driving a Volkwagen Passat TDI Clean Diesel complaining about a very offensive odor, or as one lady put it, “It smells like marinated camel crap.” Speculating that it is the scent of diesel gas, they quickly scrap the idea as the “new” diesel just doesn’t smell anymore. Instead, Tuna is accused of being the culprit.

For those who aren’t apt to following (okay stalking ) amazing dogs on social media, Tuna is a rescued Chiweenie that is the epitome of an underdog. The 4-year-old pup has an extreme overbite, recessed jawline and a “shrivelneck,” or wrinkly neckline. As his owner, Courtney Dasher writes:

“His loyal followers embrace his physical differences, have fallen in love with his charm and connect to his message; that true beauty comes in all forms and radiates from within.”

With 1.2 million Instagram followers, a book and the star of many dog events, it would only be natural that he steals the scene in Volkswagen’s latest commercial.
