Police Know Who Killed Salma Hayek’s Dog, Decide to Not Press Charges

Salma Hayek was surprised to come across a large brown dog calmly laying in the grass.

Salma Hayek has lost one of her best friends — her 9-year-old dog, Mozart.

The actress shared on Instagram this past weekend that the dog was fatally shot at her Washington ranch.

“I haven’t posted for a week as [I’ve] been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart who I personally delivered out of his mother’s womb,” she wrote Friday on Instagram under the above photo of her now deceased dog. “He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart.”

“I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in 9 years never bit or attacked anyone,” Hayek continued. “He loved his territory and never strayed away…he was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn’t deserve a slow and painful death.”

According to TMZ, the police were able to pinpoint the neighbor that shot Mozart but have decided not to pursue charges. The neighbor claims that Hayek’s dogs continually trespass on his property and the day the incident occurred several of her dogs were in his garage. He admitted to shooting them with a pellet gun to scare them away but did not have any intention of killing the dogs. Because the animals were on his property when shot, the police closed the case.

The actress is a huge animal lover. She has said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she has nine dogs, talked to Ellen DeGeneres about her other animals, including a horse, cat, parrots and alpacas and her Instagram account is sprinkled with pictures of her and her pets. Below are a few of images. We hope Hayek gets justice for Mozart.
