In a horrible case of deja vu for South Carolina, another dog was found with her mouth duct taped shut.
The Darlington County Sherriff’s Office responded to a call on Monday morning about a black Great Dane wandering near a road with duct tape around her head and mouth, making it impossible for the dog to eat.
Capt. Chad McInville took the call, and after some time, the dog finally came to him. He said the tape was wrapped around the dog’s head and mouth several times and would have starved to death.

McInville took the pup to Darlington County Animal Shelter where she was evaluated. While the abuse act is appalling, the dog, now named Aurora, will most likely make a full recovery.
“She wasn’t taped up for too long,” Susan Blakeney, a volunteer with the Darlington County Humane Society, told The Washington Post. She believed the dog was in this state between 12 and 24 hours. “Her mouth area and head appear to be just fine.”
Believed to be around 3 years old, Aurora is also underweight, has an injured paw and hookworm, whipworm and heartworm, according to Blakeney.
She will not be up for adoption for a few weeks, as she must remain with the Humane Society during the investigation into the animal cruelty case.

The Darlington County Sherriff’s Office is asking the public for its help in finding the person who committed this heinous act. If you have information, please contact authorities at (843) 398-4501 or (843) 398-4920.
The Darlington County Humane Society has set up a YouCaring page to help pay for her medical costs.
“Aurora was found wandering with her mouth taped SHUT! With tape around her head and mouth, someone let her loose to fend for herself! We are horrified!” the group wrote on Facebook. “Please help us help her by giving NOW!
A similar incident happened in South Carolina last year, around the same time. A chocolate pit bull, now named Caitlyn, was found wandering the streets of Charleston County, with her mouth duct taped so tightly the blood circulation was cut off to her tongue.
While she still remains in foster care until her reported abuser, William Leonard Dodson, goes to trial, Caitlyn became the face of animal abuse.
She has helped raise thousands of dollars for animal welfare organizations, was named People’s Survivor of the Year and received numerous other awards.
