Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue: The Inspirational Journey Behind The Dog Rescue

While New York’s Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue is on a mission to save as many “badass dogs from idiot humans,” the organization’s initial goal was a little bit more humble: to rescue one pup.

The organization started when founder Sara Cross fostered one dog in her one-bedroom apartment. Slowly she began to bring in more dogs and now four years later, Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue has saved 1,400 dogs, has dozens of volunteers and fosters and is growing.

“When I started seeing the dogs that I have saved living great lives, it made me feel a sense of empowerment that nothing else has given me,” she says in an Upworthy video.
